One-Dimensional Maximum Power Point Tracking Design of Switched-Capacitor Charge Pumps for Thermoelectric Energy Harvesting

This paper proposes a one-dimensional (1D) maximum power point tracking (MPPT) design which only requires measurement of one parameter (the input voltage switched-capacitor charge pump) for calibrating converter including the pump and thermoelectric generator. The frequency clock to drive is designed minimize circuit area entire generating target output current at specific voltage. ratio capacitance value each boosting capacitor (C) size switching MOSFET can be determined maximize transferring same time. When generator (TEG) given, its impedance determined. Its open-circuit varies with temperature difference between two plates TEG. MPPT maximizes even when varies. It was indicated that number stages (N) needs increase lowers, whereas C decrease inversely proportional N, meaning C–N product should kept unchanged MPPT.
